Rampant Barca run riot against sorry Alaves

Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez both scored on Saturday as Barcelona thrashed Alaves in La Liga, reports BBC. Suarez turned in the opener for the visitors from Aleix Vidal's drilled cross, before Neymar tapped in the second from close range. Barca turned on the style in the second half with four goals in the space of nine minutes, as Messi stroked in the third before Alexis' own goal. Ivan Rakitic smashed home from inside the area and Suarez added the sixth. These two sides will meet again on Saturday, 27 May in the final of the Copa del Rey after Barca got past Atletico Madrid and Alaves edged through against Celta Vigo. The visitors dominated this match and fully deserved their win with 70 per cent possession, as well as scoring with six of their nine shots on target. Uruguay forward Suarez was on the scoresheet again and now has 18 goals this season, making him the league's top marksman, one ahead of team-mate Messi. Full-back Vidal was carried off on a stretcher late on and will miss the rest of the season after dislocating his right ankle, after a challenge by Theo Hernandez. Luis Enrique's side remain second and have played two more games than leaders Real Madrid, who beat Osasuna 3-1.....

Green Delta Ins recommends cash div

The board of directors of Green Delta Insurance has recommended 20 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2016, said an official disclosure on Sunday. The final approval will come during the annual general meeting scheduled to be held on March 30 at 11:00am at Spectra Convention Center at Gulshan-1 in Dhaka. The record date is on March 5. The company has also reported earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 3.08, net asset value (NAV) per share of Tk 69.93 and net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) of Tk (0.16) for the year ended on December 31, 2016 as against Tk 2.85 Tk 70.54 and Tk 0.46 respectively for the same period of the previous year. There will be no price limit on the trading of the shares of the company today (Sunday) following its corporate declaration. Murder-suicide in Gaibandha

A man reportedly committed suicide after killing his wife over a family feud at Birinchi village in Gobindaganj upazila early Sunday. The deceased were identified as Jalal Uddin and his wife Pakhi Begum, residents of Birinchi village, reports UNB. The couple locked into an altercation over family matters at the dead of night, said neighbours. As they stopped the fighting suddenly, the neighbours smelled something wrong and went to the house only to see Pakhi's body lying on the bed and Jalal hanging from the ceiling of the room. On information, police rushed in, recovered the bodies and sent those to hospital for autopsy, said Fazlur Rahman, in-charge of Boiragirhat Police Investigation Centre of Gobindaganj.  Jalal might have killed himself after strangulating his wife to death, Fazlur added.....

DSE,CSE open optimistic

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) saw upward trend in early hours Sunday as investors continued their buying spree on large-cap stocks. After 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 40 points while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse rose 66 points when the report was filed at 11:00am. After crossing the 5,500-mark in the previous session, DSEX went up by 40.04 points or 0.73 per cent to stand at 5,552.52 points when the report was filed at 11:00am. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips soared 14.15 points or 0.72 per cent to stand at 2,016.52 points. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also advanced 8.89 points or 0.69 per cent to reach at 1,293.82 points. Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stands at Tk 1.65 billion on the DSE, when the report was filed at 11:00am, riding on LankaBangla Finance and Baraka Power. LankaBangla dominated the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 112 million changing hands till then, closely followed by Baraka Power Tk 108 million, Doreen Power Tk 82 million, Al-Arafa Islami Bank Tk 66 million and Beximco Pharma Tk 65 million. Of the issues traded till then, 201 advanced, 33 declined and 25 issues remained unchanged till 11:00am. The port city bourse, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), also saw upward trend with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – advancing 65.68 points to stand at 10,396 points, also at 11:00am. Of the issues traded till then, 101 gained, 17 declined and 17 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 70 million. -bb/rmc//....
